We are going to the host hotel bar. Looking at the university Marriott website, Dewberry 1850 restaurant and lounge.

Just got flights, car & hotel to attend 9th through the 12th.

I’m not an OCA member, so I’m unaware about ticketing and so on.

Anything I need to do to check out the show field and swap meet?

Also, would be pleased to meet you all in person if something gets arranged.

Thanks
Chris

Cfair, I’ve attended for the last 2 years without a car and everything is open and free.
I kinda wish they would do something for the folks coming without an entry.

Maybe I’m missing something?
But I’ll be there as well.

There's no fee for spectators or for buyers in the swap meet. The entrance fee is for the venue for the car show, awards, insurance, etc. As a spectator, you really aren't getting any of that anyway.

Guys,
Great to learn more, many thanks for clue-ing me in.

It kind of crossed my mind to road trip in the Starfire, but 4000 miles and that many days door to door is not in the cards for me this time.

Joe - hope we cross paths while there, should be fun to meet in person after all these Mid-60’s big car adventures.

Cheers
cf

Chris we have about 5-6 to people that have said that they are coming to the host hotel "Dewberry 1850 restaurant and lounge on Friday about 3PM. ish??? at least half are judging. And if we are short people to judge then be patient we will get there. I have heard that over 300 cars were registered.

Is anyone arriving Tuesday night?
Might be a low key time to meet for a drink and talk about the days ahead.

I luckily got a room at the 2nd host hotel just across the river. Glad to meet up at the first Host hotel then to say hi.

I plan to arrive mid-afternoon on Tuesday. I'm at the Marriott. I'll buy.

The Tuesday get-together is a good idea. I'll be at the hotel by 4:00 pm.

I see mention of a swap meet at Nationals but no specific time for that. Is that most commonly during the Friday car show/judging event?

68 Cutlass….the swap meet is part of the set up. It starts when the private vendors arrive, and ends when they leave.
You can walk the swap meet from Wednesday-the end of the show.

Last year I walked the swap meet several times and saw new stuff each day.

This year you will definitely walk through the swap meet several times... it will be laid out between the hotel and show field.
Not necessarily a bad idea.. imo. prob save a few steps..

Tuesday afternoon/evening sounds good also. Should we say 5 Tuesday and also 3 on Friday? I should be able to do both if that's what happens.

Is there a backup plan for the race at Kil Kare? Mother Nature is such a vicious bitch. Looks like rain.

If there will be no race, I’ll probably just drive the car. If the weather cooperates, I’d prefer to trailer it and save the west/tear on the drag radials. If there is no race to attend, no point in worrying about either, I’ll just drive the car on regular tires.

The size of the error bars on a weather prediction this far in advance are huge.
