1970 442 convertible question

Just replaced horn relay in my 1970 442 convertible. With the new horn relay, anytime I have the driver side door open there is a buzzing sound that shuts off as soon as the door is closed. The passenger door does not do this. This never occured with the old horn relay(orginal to car). Is this normal (reminding you that the door is not closed) or is the new horn relay causing a problem? Thanks for the help

No problem and totally normal, that's the key warning buzzer.
It should only buzz when the key is fully inserted into the ignition switch and the door is open at the same time.

Correct. The key warning buzzer uses the horn relay. Now if it's buzzing even when the key is not in the lock, then I suspect the switch in the steering column is bad.

If you want to shut it off disconect the pink wire with the black tracer off the horn/buzzer relay. Just did this on my race car. Was driving me nuts at the track. JKaz

The original key buzzer switch (2 pieces) in the column is probably stuck.

The replacements are one piece.

You have to pull the steering wheel, remove the lock plate, and do some dissembly to the column to repair.
