Steering wheel

I've got a 69 442 i am working on and was looking to get a steering wheel kit for it. I think i like the 70 4 spoke style.
Any suggestions on a good quality one and from where.

Thanks
Tom

Should be able to find a nice used GM one. I sold a nice one complete, for less than you could buy a repo for. Just have to look for them. Put a parts wanted on this site.

If you want original go with OEM. If you want grain on the front of the wheel go with a repro. Every reasonably price OEM one I have seen are almost completely smooth on the front, and a sticky mess. Since it wasn’t offered in 69 I don’t think you need OEM. I have a repro on my car and it may not be 100% correct it does feel and look nice. I bought it from another member here for a good price so I’m not sure where it came from originally. The parts place has a complete kit with mounting hub, horn cap and contact for a good price though.

I bought the wheel kit through the parts place shown above. Although not totally correct, every used wheel I found at various swap meets was sticky including the buick sport wheel I had in the car while I was building it. The wheel kit from the parts place was nice except that the rocket insert in the horn button came installed upside down. Luckily, there are no mechanical fasteners "clocking" the emblem in the horn button assembly just a friction fit between the rubber and metal rings. I was able to carefully turn it to the proper posistion.

I guess I should be thankful. The steering wheel on my car came from a 75 Cutlass, it’s not sticky.

another vote here for the Parts Place repro wheel kit - I've had it on my '72 for 5+ years, well made assembly - unless you need/want OEM for originality, easiest and most practical way to go for the money in my opinion
