Condenser for the 307

Good morning everyone,

i want to get my AC fixed but im having a hard time finding a condenser for my 87 Cadillac Brougham. Now i saw a condenser on ebay for a 87 Cutlass and we share the same engine ect. Can somebody confirm me that this will fit. I cant imagine that GM put the same engine in them but different condensers. I attached a link:https://www.ebay.com/itm/392400208739?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=VNO7ohSsT9C&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=hRMfdnAvRs G&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Thank you

The A/C condenser has nothing to do with the engine, it must match the body. It appears that the condenser is common to the late 80s B/C/D-body cars (Caprice, Custom Cruiser, etc). It also appears that no one has any in stock.

The GM part number is 3050450, which shows applicability to 1984-89 Fleetwoods. This P/N was superseded by 52485722. Search for both of those numbers in Google. Here's one that I found (and yeah, I realize that the application description doesn't match what GM says it is. I would tend to believe GM over a repro house).

They are D-body cars with the Olds 307 (VIN 9 in some cases!) and 200-4R. Basically a stretched B-body frame.

No, that's not what I said. What I said was that the fitment info provided by the repro houses is often not correct. GM says 3050450 fits your car. The repro house says that while they sell a replacement for 3050450, it only fits through 1983. I'd believe GM that any 3050450 fits your car. Whether or not the one that the repro house CLAIMS to be a replacement for 3050450 really does match the GM part is a different question that cannot be answered. Unfortunately you're in a situation that beggars can't be choosers.

I learned something again today, thank you for that. So i have those 2 numbers and just keep looking for them. I gotta do some more research because as of now i cant fix my AC because i dont have the condenser and the next thing is to find a shop who is willing to work on 35 year old AC system.
But anyway, thanks everybody.

A "Tough One" 2026 condenser was put my 1983 Delta 88 recently. I googled it and says it won't fit the 87 Brougham. I would check all the dimensions on line.

It's a 35 year old car. There aren't a lot left on the road. The condenser is not a normal wear item and there isn't much of a market for them. Companies are clearing warehouses of inventory that doesn't turn over, since they're just paying to store it without any profit from it. Welcome to the world of old cars.
