Here's an Ebay auction....an AMC with a Rocket engine in it....see it's trues....years of drug use CAN have adverse effects....the motor is detailed out VERY nice, but it's too bad it's not setting where it should in an OLDS!!!.....Oldsdroptop

That truck goes to my local cruise at Quaker Steak & Lube. One nite I took my '92 SCX (same engine) and parked directly across from him. A number of people wore a path between the 2 vehicles trying to figure it out.

I am considering buying a BMW 320i that was being set up for an Olds 350. He has the engine and trans and most everything to complete the swap.

I think that it would be a good "sleeper".

personnaly I liked the truck and thought it would be a great sleeper truck with it's rustic look. There is a guy around here that runs a 74 cutlass with a full blown 502 on the track. the car is flat black and not pretty but he runs high 8's

It's better than putting in a Chevy motor. Gives the car more class and now the owner can boast that it is a 1 of 1.

That's just what the owner thinks. As you can see, he says "rust is a color".
Actually, the truck is pretty solid. He has driven it all over the country, too.

Looks aren't everything, and when a person has limited resources it is better to get it safe first, running strong second, and looking sharp last. Unless you have a a place to leave it until it is completely finished. Many vehicles that age aren't complete restorations, I bet that guy has lots of fun driving that truck.

Rods

Yeah and back in them days the metal was a little heavier so some surface rust doesn't necessarily mean full of holes. A guy I knew out west used to restore old cars into rods and one I got to see was a 38 Pontiac coupe that was rust from bumper to bumper. He removed all the surface rust and had a solid steel shell , no holes anywhere. The car was found in a farmers field in saskatchewan where there is no salt and though cold in winter it is dry. he sold it for 20,000 U.S. at a car show he went to. Wish I had pics of it but it turned out great and he did not change the body style at all. He did put in a 400 hsp SBC motor and changed drivetrain , disc brakes , suspension etc. Some of those older cars make great rods and if done right they are nice cars.
