Built these two back in the 90's, the 442 Ragtop belonged to Randy Hurley, and painted in lacquer, as original. The F85 belonged to a great friends' cousin, Pete Downey. He originally wanted to do it stock, with the boring beige paint, as shown. But hanging out with us crazy custom guys, decided to go with shaved doors, nosed, decked, partially dechromed, and tunneled antennas. Then Candy Burgundy paint, and some nice wheels. He had bought a quarter panel and door from Arizona, but they were from a hardtop. Had to convert them over to a sedan. Not super difficult, just in case others have the same problem.

Long gone.

Turnpike Cruiser option with 70K miles and original paint. Gone.

My Son's car, will never leave.

California car I had, long gone.

Gone, I loved this, very nice and comfy.

Also gone. Another California car, no rust, original paint, buckets, auto in floor.

Long gone. 442, 4Speed, black bucket seat interior, no console. I didn't have a digital picture, I had to take a picture of a photo so pic is pretty sorry. It really was a beauty.

This was from a few years back when I had finally got the car back out and running again after a 5 year slumber.

I covered the less photogenic item in the photo.

Each year it gets further from original.

I would like to make her a little more drivable. Maybe go from 390’s to 342’s and put in a cam with a little more bottom end and more vacuum.

Nice car, straight…I agree 3.90’s are to stout for street cars.. 355 or 342 is good..see Cutlassefi on here for cam recommendation and sales..knows his stuff.

Ugly cars that run always have my respect. Better than a pretty car that doesn't run.

Out here in Denver an old very well respected life long friend (actually became my brothers ex brother in law). He is known as Freightliner. He ran a 69 Chevelle that was primer black and anyone could scratch their name in it anywhere. Ugly and ran. Like ran.10's at altitude. He went to a 67 Skylark same theme but no scratched names anymore. I have mad respect for cars that run and looks are secondary.

Agree. I always tackle the drive train first. If you can't floor your car and lay serious rubber, I don't see the point of owning one. Of course modern cars have spoiled me, not wanting to spin 3500 rpm on the highway. Factory cars, even the base models these days really move. Nice paint is great but then there is the *** hole door dingers to deal with.
