I already introduced myself in the newbie forum but thought I'd expand a little bit about myself.
I've owned a few Olds during my life. The first was a 2dr dark green 69 Cutlass S with a 350ci which I had for a few years and it had about 96,000 mi on the od when I sold it to a friend. About a month later he flipped it and totaled it while drunk one night. He was ok, walked away with a few scratches.
The next was a 4dr sky blue Delmont 88 with a 350ci it had about 23,000 mi on the od when I got it and it was the first time getting a car loan. I had it for a few years and one night coming home from a party I passed out at the wheel and totaled it out on a light pole. Ended up in the emergency room with a broken nose, split lip and a nasty gash on my elbow. It really wasn't my fault, you know how those telephone poles jump out into the street in front of cars. I realized then I might have a drinking problem and better quit before I kill someone or myself. I quit a few years later and it's been 31 years since my last drink or recreational drugs.
The third Olds I had was a 1986 Cutlass Supreme Brougham with the 5.0ci, 2dr light green with black vinyl top and wire spoke hubcaps. It only had 13,000 mi on the od when I bought it and I took my second car loan to buy it. I kept it for a few years and sold it and used the money to put a down payment on my house, it had bout 63,000 mi on the od when I sold it and it went to Florida with the new owner. I do miss that car.
I bought two almost new trucks after that for my business and now I'm retired and bought this 61 Super 88 to keep me busy and enjoy. It needs some work done on it to make it somewhat presentable and some issues with electrical. Who ever owned it before the person I bought it from must have had it stored it away in a damp garage and had stored stuff on top of it and pretty much ruined the paint on it. The hood, roof and trunk lid have spots of paint peeled off where whatever was on it was removed and the paint stuck to the bottom and took the paint with it. I doubt I'll ever get it painted because of the crazy prices that shops want and I can't afford it and don't have the room in my tiny garage to try and paint it myself. A funny thing about when I bought it, I told the seller the deal won't be complete if I can't fit it into my garage. It did and it has 1in at the front and 1in at the back to close the door.
I still have my 2000 s10 with the 2.2 4cly that now has 169,000 mi on the od and still runs great (it still has the original muffler system). I also have a 2005 Saturn Ion that my friend gave me because she couldn't drive anymore and it only has 17,000 mi on it.
Over the course of owning vehicles I pretty much have done all the maintenance on them myself. I'm going to do my best to keep this Olds going and hopefully get advise when I run into problems from the good folks here.
