W-27 rear

Hi folks,
I'm curious, how many W-27 equipped cars were built ?

THX,
Owen

Hard to say. There were roughly 370 of them made if I remember correct but some of those were sold over the counter. They have all but one month of W-27 production and estimated that months production so they say roughly 370

I don't remember any sold over the counter. That's interesting. Many thanks. I wonder
how many survive? Is there any way to trace one to a particular vehicle ?

Let me back up, for sure to long ago. Estimated 355 installed on cars. This does not count the ones available over the counter. Hard to say how many sold over the counter.

Well I've certainly learned a lot. Does anyone know the part number for the otc piece?
Next, do photos of a unit in the crate exist? Do the stamping numbers differentia between
factory installed and otc pieces?

No numbers between them. One of the NOS ones was set up from the factory with 5.00 gears and the axle tube was not stamped for the gear size. Other than that I do not believe you would know if it come in a car or if it was over the counter.

When Olds sent the 8 1/2 ' for my 83 H/O, it was just strapped to a pallet.
