I'm changing my name to Frank !!!

Morning temps have been nice in the PHX area its finally starting to cool down so the Olds has been going out more. todays errand hinges from the local Ace hardware, as I'm pulling from my parking place I see a gent approaching waving his arms yelling Frank , Frank normally I would be looking around to see if they were talking to me but I knew he was trying to get my attention, you see the previous owner of My Olds name was Frank, I responded politely no I'm Mark, he responded with" but that's Franks car" I smiled and said no it's mine now I have the title to prove it, we talked a bit and as we talked I started to think I've seen you before your the guy I hated for years ! he looked puzzled and said why did you hate me? I said for leaving your garage door open !! he again looked puzzled I said I used to have to drive by your place ( about 3 blocks from my home) on my way to work and every day in your 3 car garage I would see a red and white 55 Chevy a green and white 55 Chevy and a fire engine red 64 Nova, yup that's me ! the red and white 55 was mine, the Nova was mine and the green and white 55 was my sons. The son moved away and I sold the 55 I only have the Nova now, I advised I was very jealous and envious .I still drive buy and see the Nova but its not as bad now that I have the Olds to console me.
We talked a bit more and I asked how he knew Frank, he told me that Frank used to live only about 3 blocks from me, wow I lived in this neighborhood 27 years and never saw Frank or the Olds (guess I should learn to be more social) how does that happen ? its hard to miss a Tropical green and white land yacht !! Frank is now living about 10 miles from me (that's where I bought the car)
At the cruise in last week 2 people approached me asking if that was Franks old Oldsmobile !! and a few weeks prior to that the guy that wanted to buy it from Frank was giving me grief !! last week I called the local hot rod garage (where the car has some repair history) to see about looking at a small trans line leak and the owner said 56 Olds oh Franks old car !!
So in a attempt to make things easier I can either sell the car (NOT !!) or change my name to Frank !! P.S. my wife tells me I'm much better looking than Frank !! (makes me wonder what she wants)

I have a friend who lives about 40 miles east of me, he has a white 68 442. He has a cowl hood to make room for the tall intake, gauges mounted on the hood, and the 442 fender stripes.

My car has the hood stripes, is also white, and different wheels. Other than the minor cosmetic differences, it’s pretty easy to confuse the cars, especially if your not familiar with Olds A body cars.

Not a week goes by that someone asks “did I see you in whatever town, and didn’t you have a different hood?” My friend says he gets the same kind of questions all the time. His best friends parents bought the car new, he bought it from them about the same time I bought my car when I was in high school. While we live pretty close to each other, if it weren’t for the love of the cars I seriously doubt I would have ever known him.

My point to all this? You meet the nicest people driving a Olds!!

Very perceptive Killian, that's funny stuff LOL. I looked at the car twice before purchasing, My wife was with me both times ( at least I think she was, I am getting old)

If someone saw a 55 convertible some place it was most likely me. I have never ran across another 55 vert in the wild. I'm sure there are a few but never in my travels..... Tedd

I bought my '70 Chevelle SS 45 years ago from the second owner Ron. Ron bought it 46 years ago from the original owner Fred. To this day people ask, isn't that Fred's car?

Solly, when I read the subject I thought my posts about my ‘56 had a life changing impression on you.

Don't worry Frank you and the other guys are still a inspiration to me, your collective knowledge is invaluable. plus most of you guys built/restored your Oldsmobile's I'm kind of just a custodian who's name is on the title.

Because of social distancing ordinances, you could now wear that shirt, while staying out of slapping range, unless the potential slapper happens to have a cane or selfie stick handy
