71 Cutlass Convertible Boot Snap Question

Howdy,
I recently got a replacement boot from Legendary for my 71 and when I went to put it on, it looks like the snaps are hitting the Philips head screw on the car, preventing the top from snapping on. When I remove the Phillips head screw, it snaps on just fine.
I'm trying to figure out if the boot has the wrong snap, maybe one that is too shallow to allow for it to snap on correctly, or if the screw on the car is the incorrect one. I haven't been able to find a picture showing the snap, so I can't figure out which is wrong. Can anyone that has a convertible let me know if this is the correct screw, or if it should be a screw that is recessed into the snap?
Much appreciated.

From your image it appears the screw is incorrect. The screw head should be below the periphery of the snap edge e.g. so it screws further down into the snap. You just need a screw w/ a smaller diameter screw head. Ace has good SS screws. Remove that screw, take screw w/ you & head to Ace and find the same screw with smaller diameter screw head.

Perfect. I was thinking that was the issue, but I wanted to confirm before I removed a potentially original part to replace it with the (potentially) wrong thing, and that the car didn't have some weird snap design.
Thanks for the help!

I have a '71 CS. That screw should be recessed below the periphery of the snap edge i.e. recessed into the snap.

I'll mention this in case you run into a SNAFU. The reason the screw head and the screw itself may be larger is because a previous owner may have stripped the hole or the hole is widened so as the proper screw will not fasten correctly. The best age-old proven resolution is to take a tooth pick and insert the tooth pick into the screw hole along with the screw; screw them both in at the same time, thereby providing a good foundation for the screw.

Fingers crossed to it just being laziness and grabbing the first "vaguely right" screw, but I do have toothpicks on standby. Thanks for the info, you realize quickly how every single thing on this planet is on the internet except the one piece of information you are currently looking for. Typical.
