I’ve owned my 62 Starfire about 3 years. Don’t think I’ve ever used the wipers. Yesterday I got caught in the rain. When I turned the wipers off, they miss going to the bottom of the windshield as they should by about 4 inches. It’s obvious they can’t be pushed down manually. I can’t find anything about this in the service manual. Could anyone help me and advise how to adjust them that they return to where they should? Thanks.

 

Which service manual ?
The 1962 Oldsmobile Service Manual was only a supplement to the 1961 Oldsmobile Service Manual .
If you have a '62 you will need both books .
The 1961 Oldsmobile Service Manual has complete repair and adjustment of the windshield wiper system starting on page 13 - 52 .

Wiper arms can be removed and re-indexed on the wiper transmissions . Be careful not to index them too low or the wiper blades could damage windshield moldings .
