Convertible top pump

Convertible top pump

Does anyone on the forum know of someone that rebuilds convertible top motors?

You might try a generator shop but I would bet it would be almost as cheap to buy new from Hydra-Electric unless it is something strange or very old.... Tedd

its a pretty simple mechanism inside ,i took mine apart and cleaned it ,then replaced all the rubber orings with new ones i picked up at the hardware store .filled it with transmission fluid from a turkey baster and it works great.

Its for a 65 Cutlass. I have put a jumper directly to the pump. ( one wire to the red lead and another to the ground ) I get a spark when I touch the ground. I'm thinking something is frozen inside from sitting for a long time. I guess my next step is to disassemble the unit to take a look inside.
