That OAI setup is worth 2k, especially if that's a numbers matching U code with factory W-25.

Looks like a dry rust free car. Along the lines of what Koda said, I think the OAI hood and setup and Dual Gate are worth close to $3000 alone. No brainer.
I am going to be the first one to see it it wasnt able to be seen until this morning so im on my way to meet at 9am.

Nice find. Hopefully, you bought it and will restore it or sell it whole to someone who will...Dry rot free makes it a restoration candidate...not a parts car IMO. Harder and harder to find rot free candidates especially around here. You could double or triple your money selling it to a rustbelter without turning a single wrench.
Hey guys it’s not rust free it has some rust in the quarters and a little bit in the fenders I do have the original protecto plate and it is the original engine so I’m not sure if I’m gonna go for it not sure if it’s worth the money what do you think?

A really nice 1972 W-30 will struggle to bring $35K. A nicely restored U-code will bring less than that - say high 20s to low 30s. This car appears to be very nicely optioned. How much do you think it will take to get it to a state that makes it worth $30K?

well it’s a original Engine car got a Be worth something to somebody I know a lot of guys will kill have that car for 5000 to 10,000 it’s got a good platform

Yes I think it’s worth it no problem but most likely I will try to get it running and then just sell it I couldn’t pass it up for the price I didn’t pay 4000 and I didn’t pay 2500 I paid somewhere in between not a bad deal
OK guys so I got the car home I cleaned it out pretty solid I’m going to try and get it running I got to go get some carburetor gaskets and a new line for the carburetor dual feed.
The engine may have to come apart because the heads could be clogged up from the water jackets from sitting but will see I’ve started others up no problem no overheating or anything. Desert rust isn't even a concern compared to rust belt rot. Engine matches the vin. How about the trans? Should have the same vin derivative on the driver's side oil pan rail. Again bring that car north (rust belt) and its worth 7500-8 grand as it sits as solid as it looks.
Look at auction sales. 72 W-30s get no respect. Actual sale prices struggle to reach $35K, at the same time that identical 71s go for twice that. I don't know if it's the GA heads or black inner fenders or what, but these are definitely the Oldsmobile performance buy of the musclecar period. Except for the head castings, the 71 and 72 motors are identical.

The market on the 72s is coming up but will always lag behind the 71s. I do not agree with the market disparity between the two years but it is a reality.
The 1972 442 W-30 is one of the last affordable muscle cars. Get yours' while they are still affordable.
I'm glad to see values coming up, but I remain skeptical of Mecum auction "results". Let's not forget that a certain yellow 1964 Faux-Four-Two convertible "sold" at Mecum for $25K earlier this year (and was even mentioned in this month's Musclecar Review magazine as "well bought"), yet appeared on ebay again a few weeks later offered for sale by the same Las Vegas dealer who's been pushing that car for years (with exactly the same photos in the ad).
