There's a 1961 Olds Super 88 convertible for sale in my area with bucket seats and a console that look similar the ones in the Starfire. Likely a transplant but was wondering if anyone knows if installing that seat and console package was a factory option for the 88 series.

 

It was not. That car has been modified. If I recall correctly, the seats are trimmed as a '62 Starfire, not a '61...

In 1961 my dad was working on a pipeline job in Harlan Iowa. The Olds dealer there had a Super 88 bubbletop on the showroom floor with bucket seats and a console with a four speed transmission. I'm sure there will be naysayers that will dispute this, but I was 17, was already a car guy. I owned a 57 Chevy that was one of the fastest in my home town so I paid attention to these things. I guess the dealer could have either special ordered this car optioned this way or could have built it in their shop, but it had these options.
