Could someone give me some advice on freeing the master cylinder cap on my 1966 F85? Recently got the car. Sat for years. Folded over the cap lock/spring/tensioner...whatever it may be called.....and I can't get the cap itself to budge. Thank you for any and all responses!!!

 

Just tap up lightly along the lower lip. The rubber gasket may have stuck to the MC body.

 

If it's that rusty just remove it from the car, will need to rebuild or replace anyway. Modify an old can opener to work lid loose, original lid will be hard to find.

 

Thank you for your response! Cap isn't rusted...vehicle sat for many years. I successfully removed it. Reservoir was nearly empty. Upon my surprise...once topping off, the brakes pumped up nicely. Thanks again for your response!

 

You probably need to bleed the system.
