past few days I started my cutlass, engine bay sounded so much louder than usual, like a machine shop. Now today I started it and the same noise, as I backed out of the garage it started making this horrible knocking sound, I had to pull it back in. The more I stepped on the gas, the worse it got. Any idea what the heck went wrong ???

 

You need to isolate where the noise is coming from. Install an aftermarket oil pressure gauge, remove the fan belts and start again, only run a short time. See if you have oil pressure and if the noise goes away.
