Need Some Real Help

Hello all,

Well my 67 Vista Cruiser restoration is going well with the exception of the rear bumper. The car was hit before the start of the resto and the left side of the rear bumper was bent back. The place doping the stripping and paint said that their bumper people aren't interested in straightening it. I have exhausted my search for a new one. The bigger issue is the shop doesn't want to hang the new quarter until they have a bumper so that they can use it as a guide to hang it properly.

Soo... Does anyone out there have a 66-67 Cruiser rear bumper?

Any help is appreciated.

I will post pictures of the build soon.

Jim

It might be easier to check some other shops & find someone that will fix yours

Thanks, I put a wanted add on. The shop has sent my original to another place. Hoping they will try to repair it. The thing that really sucks is that the bumper was perfect before the accident.

If you're still on the hunt, I just did a quick web search and found 3 66 VC and 1 67 VC at DVAP (Desert Valley Auto Parts). The bumpers don't look all that bad on the 66 VCs.

DVID: 67OL1294D
DVID: 66OL0884C
DVID: 66OL0884D
DVID: 66OL6392D

(DVID = Desert Valley Inventory Description) 66/67 OH L not zero L

Note: They have a drop down menu for requesting a part.

Good luck with your search. I doubt anyone will have a perfect bumper, but most of these look workable.

It's funny that you bring up DVC. I have bought two driver side quarters for my Cruiser repair. The first one was the better of the two but I lost it in my garage fire that I had back in Feb. So I had to settle for the lesser of the two which is from the brownish car on their site. Unfortunately, they have no bumpers for the car.

Thanks for the effort,
Jim

Sorry it didn't work out.
Don't know where you're located, but there are 3 guys I know who might have a better than average chance of finding/having those bumpers.
John McNeel (2blu442) Medford Oregon
Scott Winn (Oldspackrat) Indianapolis Indiana
Eric Jensen (jensenracing77) Brazil Indiana

Thanks for everyone's help on my bumper search. It turns out the shop found a bumper place to repair the damaged one. I will post pictures soon of the cars progress. It is painted and waiting for polishing.

Thanks,
Jim
