Visit to Gene (64Rocket)

Hi All. I recently visited Gene (64Rocket) and drooled over his shop. Like many of us Gene has been collecting Oldsmobile parts for years. He’s made the decision to sell part of his collection so he can make room to more easily work on his project cars. I’m still in the collect/clutter mode and am happy to help him with this! I picked up a load of parts on Friday and will need to make several more trips over the coming weeks. I first met Gene at the Reno Nationals in 2011. I consider the friends I’ve made through the car hobby as part of what makes this hobby fun. Thank you for the treasure Gene, I’ll be seeing you again soon! John

Randy, due to the weight of engine parts I'll need to make several more trips. Send me a PM or email if you'd like to connect on a future trip.

Well, I've made two trips now. I'm not confident in my old truck for this kind of a road trip, so I've rented a van. Here's what we were able to load up for this trip.

The first layer is heads, intakes and some starters.

The second layer is boxes of misc. parts. Heavy on engine parts and various 1964 & 1968 items.

The last layer has exhaust, oil pans, valve covers, misc. mostly lighter weight parts

Gene's thinning out his collection for sure, but I'm thinking it may take 4 or 5 loads to move everything he wants to sell. He wants to rebuild 2, possibly 3 cars and at the moment there's not room for him to do that. It is a really nice shop but you can see there's not much floor space in the top two pictures. So my collection of parts is increasing in a major way

You need to stop by the scales to see what you weigh in at. Just out of curiosity.

Wow, John. I'm impressed.

I'm keeping these pictures to show my wife when she says something about how much junk I've got.

My wife would just comment on how tidy it looks and grease free and why doesn't my stuff look like that.

There are only two methods to reason with a woman, none of which work.... Tedd
