Hello from North Carolina

I am a new member to site and am excited about my newest project. About four months ago my father decided it was time to part with some of the things he had on his "to do" list. I was the recipient of his 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Convertible that him and my mother bought brand new in 1970. The car is completely intact with all matching number, original window sticker, and all paperwork from the sale to include the original waranty card. I am fortunate living in Clemmons, NC where I have located a business called Classic Olds right here in my back yard. Jim the owner has been extremely nice and will have every part I can think of for my restoration project. Should anyone need parts Jim is your man. Give him a call at 336-766-7845. I am sure I will have questions on here while in the process of taking apart and putting back together my new BABY.

Welcome. Clemmons is sort of west-northwest NC?
My wife and daughter were in in Buies Creek today checking out Campbell University. They're in Wimington visiting friends right now.
I'm home alone.

Clemmons is west of Winston-Salem, almost in the center of the state. Pictures are coming once I can figure out how to get them in.

Welcome from another N Carolinian...and also a big fan of Jim's. In fact, I gave him some buisness this past weekend at the show in Raleigh...just like I do everytiime he pulls into Raleigh. He is an awesome guy and a great ambassador for us Olds fanatics!

OK- Clemmons, Thomasville, Jamestown and Raleigh. We're a max of 1-1/2 hours apart. We need to get together and grab a bite to eat sometime. Looks like Greensboro is central to all of us, and if we can't find something there, we're not really hungry.

There's room for y'all Midwesterners too!

Vista, my co-worker's son is considering Campbell, but I expect he'll end up at East Carolina-wants to be a dentist and ECU is opening up a new dental school. He plays baseball for Person County High School, whose sports teams are...

THE ROCKETS!

Scott, how was the Raleigh show? I didn't feel like driving down there in the pouring rain, and couldn't find anyone who wanted to go either.

The Raleigh show was ok considering the weather...there were only 2 cars out in the corral when I was there...tried to get a discount on admission since there were no cars outside but all I got was a laugh Anyway, if you're like me, I just enjoy being around the old school stuff...and if Jim is there with his Olds trailer, it's all the better. I left with a couple bags of stuff so it was a worthwhile trip for me.

Funny though how the price of admission keeps going up while the number of cars seems to be going down....oh well, Charlotte is just a couple weeks away but even that show was very much scaled down last time I was there....last fall. But, doesn't matter, I'll keep going cause I like it, whether there are 1000 cars or 100 cars...and besides, they sell BEER in Charlotte!

Welcome aboard fellow Tarheel! I was born and bred in Fayetteville but ventured out to Texas 12 years ago. I'll drive my 69 back to NC when she's able to make the 2300 mile round trip. You got a real gem from your dad. I wish my dad had kept the 63 Starfire vert he had before he got married and I came along. That's the next one on my list. Good luck on the 70!

I would hate to think what the Fairgrounds charges them to rent those buildings. Guess they have to make expenses.

One time I went, there was a gun and knife show in Scott building, the car show in Graham building and the new one, plus the weekend flea market in the old buildings. Just about couldn't find a parking space and I was toting the Hurst/Olds's rear bumper to drop off with Tri City Plating. I toted that heavy-*** thing half a mile on my shoulders, and I was good and ripe when I got to the gate. I had to park almost out to the horse complex.

lovelavc, where was that Cutlass sold new? I'm guessing Royal or Highland? Maybe Black? All three of those dealers were good to us when Mid Atlantic Olds Club was going strong back in the 90s.

It was sold by Black in Greensboro. My dad kept everything including the bill of sale, financing papers, Protect-o-Plate card and some sales literature among other things. Brand new the car was $4400.00 and he traded a 1968 442 Coupe for it. His payemnts were $127.38 a month. Do I wish you could still get a car made like those for that price these days. I am still working on the picture thing and trying to get uploaded. Rocketraider has a good idea of maybe getting to together. Sounds good to me. Greensboro would probably be the best spot. By the way, are you talking about the Auto show the first weekend in April that is in Charlotte? If so I was thinking about going and trying to get my dad to go with me. Talk to ya later. Van

By the way has anyone had problems updating their profile? I get a message saying I don't have access to that part of the site. I have emailed the site administrator for help but have not heard anything yet. Any suggestions?

Pictures of the ride

Finally got some pictures uploaded. I know needs a lot of work but the sentimental value will make it worth while. I can remember as a kid riding the in the back seat listening to the after market 8 track. I will keep everyone posted as I progress with the project. It has been parked in a garage for almost 25 years but still runs. They don't make them like this anymore.

Welcome to the site.....also from NC (Durham). Maybe we'll run into each other in Charlotte next month. I plan to be there if my better half doesn't modify my plans. Looks like you're going to have a lot of fun with your ride. Keep the pics and updates coming.

I don't think Jim has set up a website yet. He's in his 70s (though you'd never know it) and oldschool. He handles Fusick's parts line and has done a lot for Olds repop stuff on his own too.

What I like is he handles a lot of small items other guys don't stock.
