Insurance on Classic Cars

Just bought my first classic car. I have a question on Insurance. My agent is quoting me around 200 a year from a company called JC Taylor. Anyone have any advice on insuring a 1969 Cutlass 442/HO clone?

thanks

I have had Hagerty on a few cars. Never had to make a claim (knock on wood) but I have been hold they will take care of you well if you do make one.

Is it agreed value policy? What's your coverage? Any restictions?
I have a 71 conv. Needs work. Agreed value $7500 100/300 coverage
Restrictions only can drive 5000 miles a year and no one under 25 can drive. Has to be garaged
78$ a year

Same as your coverage and stipulations but with $29,500 agreed value. 176.00 a year.

I have American Collectors Insurance with similar rates except my mileage limit is 3,000 per year. Have had them for four years now, never had to make a claim so I can't say how well they would handle them.

I checked with my insurance company of the last ten years, Allstate, with whom we have 2 vehicles, a house, and life and they quoted me $352...for six months?!?! And ony at the replacement value I paid for my Cutlass (11K) and wanted a copy of the bill of sale to verify. WTF? Then I went to Grundy at a 20k agreed value it would have been $152 a year. But on the app, I put that I would occasionally (maybe once every month or so) drive to work. Bam! No insurance for you! I called and they say that you can drive your car across the country to a car show or a swap meet or car club meet, or whatever as long as it's car related, but a round trip of less than 10 miles to work was a no-no. I called and talked to Hagerty, the lady I spoke with was really cool and helpful and I told them I would occasionally drive to work, and that was no problem. You have to guesstimate your annual mileage, but there is no actual limit. They were a bit higher, $212 a year at 20k agreed value, and I also got the extra $40 a year membership that has 3 flatbed tows a year from a 50 mile radius of my house, just in case. The thing I found out about the classic insurance is that you must have a verified primary vehicle as the classic is not to be used for errands, back up or everyday driver. So it does limit you in that respect. I will probably check around when it's time to renew for more freedom to drive it, but I felt this was the best deal for me right now. Good luck.
