No Olds
No Olds
It's just real depressing. Went to a "Show and Shine" car show in Branson, Mo., yesterday. There was supposed to be about 500 cars on hand, and I only found two(2) Oldsmobiles. One was an original owner shown 68 H/O that was among the first 100 made. The other was a bone stock 72 Supreme. Plenty of Mustangs and Chevelles tho. Guess Olds owners are becoming extinct.
Yeah that seems to be below the average here, about 3-5/100. The same can be said for Buick, Pontiac, Mopar, AMC, Lincoln/Mercury, and most orphan cars. It seems car shows are dominated by Ford and Chevy. The only time we see more of our beloved Olds or the brands I mentioned above is at shows put on specifically by clubs.

You should have went to Augusta Kansas first weekend in August every year. Must have been six Oldsmobile there. Plymouth, amx, dodge, Cadillac, Studebaker,******,Pontiacs. One of the best car shows in Kansas around three hundred cars have seen 400 there before. The next is black top nationals down town Wichita. easy 400 cars.
600 cars, only 2 Cutlii...mine and an '88. There were a handful of other Oldsmobiles including a nice pair of early 60's Starfires.
253 cars, there were a 65 and 67 Cutlass, and mine. Again, a couple other Oldsmobiles but not a lot.
I know there are more in the area, just never see them out. But then, not everyone is into entering shows.
X2 it is one reason I enjoy having an Olds at local shows, it's not unusual to be one of maybe three in the show. I also get a kick out of "you just don't see these any more". I have always loved this car, and the fact that there aren't a lot of them around just makes it that much better.
I concur, It's a rare sight to see more than two Oldsmobile's at a show and In 15 years of showing my 55 vert I have only seen two others and that was at the Nationals..... Were special but not extinct..... Tedd
25% or better here! But that stands to reason. Heck even in my home town's show the Lansing old car club and R.E. Olds chapter have a competition on how many club members will show. The chapter usually wins with about 30-35 members!

I agree with comments about "not many of these around". had a guy tell me he got "lucky" for the 1st time in the backseat of a 65 f85 like mine at Hot August Nites a couple of years ago. Have seen a few 64 Cutlass's, but not many. I enjoy people asking if mine is a 442 and having to explain the f85 is NOT a 442. Getting mine ready for dream cruise, Back to the Bricks and a couple of other large cruise, rolling cruises and static. Enjoy your ride.

I think it is great to drive something that not everyone has. Going back in time, I would have been a Tucker guy for sure. But as far as GM goes, I've always liked Pontiacs, Buicks and Oldsmobiles. I can remember drooling over the Quad 4 engines back in college. Looking back, not quite sure why...but it is nice to be unique. Everyone and their brother has a Chevy.
Why does the quote show up, but the text I entered does not? It does when I edit it, weird.

Show I went to yesterday had above average Olds content. Something in the neighbourhood of 300 cars entered.
- 62(?) Starfire
- 67 Cutlass hardtop
- 68 W30 Convert
- 68 442
- my friend's '69 Vista Cruiser
- two '70 Cutlass Supreme converts
- my '71 Cutlass S
And I caught a glimpse of another '68 or '69 convertible on my way home.
May have been a couple others, but those are the ones that caught my eye.

IMHO, Oldsmobiles are a regional car. Based on most adds I read, more are found in the north and urban areas. I live in an area dominated by Ford and Chevy, they were the most affordable car for the locals back in the day. I'm used to having one of the few oldsmobiles in SE KS. Went to a show in Coffeyville, KS a few weeks ago, only one Olds out of nearly 300.

i see a lot of modern muscle. its just too easy to go to a dealer and get 450 horse with a warranty...but yeah, chevys and mustangs run rampant at local cruise nights. This cruise i go to on saturday nights is pretty good thou. A real good mix of cars. a good bit of mopars which is always nice to see. they also get a decent sprinkling of buick and olds. 9 times outta 10 if i bring my hurst olds or my 70 Stage 1, i will be the only one there as well as if take my dads 440 6 barrel road runner. I used to kinda feel like a jerk for just walking by the chevelles and camaros without even looking at them but honestly id rather just look at any cars i dont normally see.
