I have a 1968 442 with a type "c" rear. I assume is an open rear with 3.07 gears (Canadian). I can't find any markings in the diff case. I would like to put a posi unit in, which one do I need and how manny splines?

Not sure about the splines but Canadian 442's got the Chevy 12 bolt rears.

Type C is a regular Chevy 8.875-inch differential, 30 spline.
Just look for 12 bolt posi, parts are everywhere. I got a real good deal on ebay when I bought parts for my Chevelle.

this brings back old memories from my dads shop.one day a woman in her mid 30's comes in and says"my husband said to stop by and have you check my rear end,he stuck his finger in and it came out dry".about the split second we busted out laughing she realized what she said and turned a deep red i have never seen since.
