What car came with a 13" 5 on 4 3/4" bolt pattern wheel

I purchased a 70 442 last year from fellow member John 2blu442.( BY THE WAY JOHN IS A GREAT GUY) It had several miss matched wheels and just roller tires. Which is just fine I purchased it for a future project.
I always thought "man that is a small tire on the front" it had on it a 13" 5 on 4 3/4 bolt pattern wheel. I mean a standard steel wheel. I am guessing it came from maybe a Corvair or a mid 60's Nova. Any thoughts on this?

just curious.

Larry

That's exactly where they came from. 1964-66 or 67 Corvair and Nova.

No Chevelle ever came from the factory with 13" wheels.

I had a '62 Fairlane that had 5 bolt 13" wheels. At the time, it was near impossible to find 13" tires.

But those would have had a 5 x 4.5" bolt circle.

Joe, didn't Novas go to 14" wheels exclusively in the '66 model year?

This 1966 Nova dealer brochure shows 13" wheels and tires as base equipment on four and six cylinder models in the Chassis/Suspension paragraph.

Wow. That must have looked weird. I don't think I've ever seen one.

How would you know unless you went up and checked the sidewalls? The stock tire would have been something like a 6.50x13. Outside diameter would be about 24.5". That's the same as a 195/70-14, as used on a lot of G-body cars, for example.

It probably would look something like this:

Indeed, a friend of mine had this exact car but in grandma tan. 5-lug 13" wheels with dog dish caps.
