Like a kid trying to sleep Christmas Eve

Taking the 3hr trip up 95N to Connecticut picking up another 72 Cutlass s
Anyone know a way I can tell if this 12 bolt posi is legit with out embarassing the guy and whipping out my floor Jack to turn the wheels. Also anything else major I should be looking for. Are these cars notorious for a frame crack in a certain place or anything major like that. Thx in advance any advice is good advice. I'm only buying it for the seats and the posi, sway bars, boxed control arms, everything else is gravy. It's gotta 350 runs and drives. Cancer around the wheel wells but not major rot just some paint bubbles and rust. It's def had stuff done thats not original to 72 rear wing just to name one. Will post pics as soon as I can.
Yes it's the silver one with the green door jams.

Whip out the jack. Make sure you get what you're paying for!

The 1972 Cutlass line only came with a corporate ten bolt 8.5" rear axle. If it really is a "12 bolt", it wasn't born there. Also understand the differences between the Chevy 12 bolt axle and the Type O axle. Both have 12 bolts on the covers but only one is really a "12 bolt" axle.

Also, front seat headrests were required by federal law on all cars built after Jan 1, 1969. Every 1972 Olds came from the factory with headrests.

Look for pinchweld rust around the windshield and back window, especially if the seller claims the water leak is only from a bad seal. This is very expensive and time consuming to repair properly. If the seller will let you remove the stainless trim to check, so much the better. Vinyl tops make it worse, usually.

Did the Canadian cars have a 12 bolt available? Seems I have read that on here but I am not sure.

No Cutlii were built in Canada in the 1972 model year. In fact, 1969 was the last year for Canadian-built Cutlii until the G-body cars.

It's a posi but not a Chevy it's a Oldsmobile 12 bolt posi The 350 runs strong a
has had work done on the motor and trans. Spent 3 min adjusting the carb mix and was able to do a burnout right in this diners parking lot. First time I tried it bogged a little so carb needs adjusting. The seats were redone right over the holes where the head rest would go. Overall pretty happy with it one quarter will need to be cut and welded nothing major the rest is cosmetic. The trunk is immaculate no signs of any water from rear window or anywhere. Original splatter paint looks awesome. The PO bought it for his kid, kid wanted a truck sat in his garage never did a thing to it. The PO before him is the guy I need to track down. Overall very happy with the purchase worth 5K all day long. Thx for all the help here's one quick pic more to come
