Lot #1067 went for big bucks. Even though it looks to be a gorgeous restoration, a 71-442 non W30 selling for over 200k is amazing, even by BJ auction standards.

This car?
Must be the combination of over the top restoration and triple black. But that is still crazy money!

Anyone know how much the Smokey and the Bandit car went for?, I was watching it in the UK yesterday, but the time difference meant I couldn't keep my eyes open before it went on the block.

Why are condoms required for the pedals but not the steering wheel? I can't believe they let sunshine and salty air at that car.

Because there is so much bull sheet flying around about what these cars really are, your going to get some on your shoes.

The car had GM mark of Excellence decal on the door(not correct) and a 1970 tire pressure decal on the door(not correct) also had lots of under the hood jewellery ,buts and bolts were over done. The car also claimed to have a 3:42, original ordering info sates NA with AC.
Other things noted:
Double wire style Hose clamps not Wittek
1972 style rad support.
In correct pedal pads ( had chrome trim and had the disc brake chrome.
Its must have had the Valve covers on correctly, about half the Olds 442s thee had them on backwards. I stop looking at auctions 442's when I see the covers on backwards.
It was a beautiful car and obviously restored to go to auction. How it was displayed was awesome.

Paulolds, you are right on. That car was sparkling. Never saw trim rings that shiny!
One thing to consider while we question the money and nit pick as we all want to do is, the car could could easily have been bought by someone that simply loved the bling and isn't necessarily and Olds purist......I'm not advocating anything other than not everyone paying big bucks for W30's cares about the GM door decal.....
That car stood out from the rest visually. I'd have rather had the red 70 post car with the big dent in the roof myself, but that black car was shiny!
