glove box lock question

The glove box lock on my '71 cutlass does not work properly. The **** on the front just turns around and around. To open the glove box, I have to actually use the key. This is kind of a pain to do while driving. Is there something that can be done to fix this, or do I need to go out and buy a new lock?

I had the same issue happen to me, I tried to fix but at the end it was just easier to replace. You will need a new lock

I thought so. I was hoping that I would not have to buy a new one, but I guess not.

I have several good ones, $22.00 shipped to you. Or call me & I can guide you on how to possibly repair yours?

The new lock has come in for the glove box. Could someone please explain to me how to remove the old one from the glove box door?

Of course, the Search function works, too:

Same thing happened to my car. Should anyone else want to take the cheap/easy way out, all I did was cut a spare key and trim it flush with the ****. Insert and done.
