wrong radiator

The previous owner of my 67 cutlass sup. put in the wrong radiator. My 330 Hi. comp. has factory air and I live in Florida. The radiator is the rite dimensions but just not thick enough (about 1 1/4 inch core thickness).
I hate to go with plastic tanks-just doesn't seem rite.
Can anybody point me to a resonablly priced heavy duty radiator source? I'm not even sure I need a bran new one. I suppose the big ones are 2 3/4 inches thick or more.
I have replaced the seals to help air flow.
Maybe somebody has one in good shape with a few good years left.
Thanks

Do you have a picture of your radiator? Does it have plastic tanks on it, with an aluminum core?

It should be a crossflow radiator, much like the 1968 and newer ones. The same sized radiators were used in many GM cars late 1960's through the 1970's. I've got extra radiators out in Oregon, but I'm sure you can find something closer as lots of members here have extra parts. You should go with at least a 3 row core with a shroud to keep it from overheating. 4 row is nice, but you'd have to change the top plate and saddles at the bottom to make that upgrade. I'd encourage you to create a parts wanted thread for a factory style radiator 3 or 4 row core. Its likely that you'll need to have a competent shop recore it, but if you have the correct brass tanks then you'll know it will fit.

The thickness you describe sound like a two row. That's the number of row of tubes that cross from tank to tank. Here's a thread where I have some photos of 2 and 3 row cores. If you buy used make sure both tanks are the same size as full sized cars often have one tank larger than the others. A-bodies all used same size on each end.
