Wish her well
Hi All,
Some of you know and most others don't, but the love of my life has been diagnosed with a brain tumor. It has gone on for about 12 years, starting with her losing her sense of smell and taste. In the past 4 years since we got back together, she has been losing the sight in her left eye and her hearing has failed. Lots of doctor visits and wrong decisions. Finally an MRI was ordered and it showed a tumor about 5x5 cm in the front, dead center between the halves of her brain.
Spent 12 hours today in pre-op and she will be having surgery Monday. Expected to be a 5-8 hour operation and it is iffy due to the damage and size.
Fortunately, being close to Boston, we have wonderful hospitals and are hoping for the best.
Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.
Paul

I want to thank you all for your support. It means a lot to us. We have to be at the hospital at 5:30 AM tomorrow. Karen is staying strong, thankful that they've finally found what had been bothering her for the past years and looking forward to leading a productive life again. Funny thing is that she was a college professor that taught brain function. How ironic is that?!
As a cancer survivor myself, I know things will be better.
Larry, tell me more about your experience. You can PM if you want.
Again, thanks to all and I will keep you posted.

What a day!
Gentlemen, I just wanted to give you an update.
We showed up at the hospital at 5:00 AM yesterday. After all the preliminary stuff, her operation started at 9AM. Doctor said it would be a 5-8 hour operation. Her daughter and I stayed to wait it out. She was in recovery at 3AM this morning. 18 hours. Doctor said there was a lot of stuff going on that the MRI's couldn't show, but she is stable and will remain sedated for another day or 2 due to the severity of the surgery. The tumor was the size of a jumbo egg and had the density of wood. Bottom line is that for now everything looks promising but he told us she's not out of the woods yet.
I truly want to thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers. I need that crazy lady I knew 45 years ago back!

Update
Just wanted to give all of you an update:
Today they took the breathing tube out and woke her up. I went in with her daughter and she is talking, alert, and said she was ready to go home. "Not so fast" say the nurses and her surgeon. She was amazed she missed 2 and a half days. Did well on her tests but thought Clinton was president.
She will spend another couple of days in ICU then be moved upstairs for a few more days. If all goes well, maybe home in a week to 10.
I'm just happy that she has come this far this fast. Thanks to you all for the support!
