Wiring questions

So as I'm replacing the intake manifold i thought I'd clean up the wiring. Came across this tube/hose(?) And some wiring, (in the pics). Not sure what the tube/hose is for, it wasn't hooked up to anything when i started taking everything off and appears to run into the firewall. The red wire was for the hot side of the electric choke on the carb. Looks like it's split to the windshield washer motor? Not sure if this is normal (doubt it is) and if there is a better way to run these wires?

The factory didn't use those cheesy butt connectors nor did they use an electric choke, so all that is added. Many people use the wiper motor feed to power an electric choke. There are better ways to do it.
A vacuum hose through the firewall in that area could have been routed to the brake switch for cruise control, or it could have been added for an aftermarket vacuum gauge.

The aftermarket vacuum gauge might make sense as it was wrapped together with electrical tape with the aftermarket oil pressure and coolant temp gauges and ran through the firewall. Might have to crawl under dash to verify and/or possibly remove it as I'm not actively using it.

Joe has a "sticky" posted in his "Tech Editor's Desk" portion of the forums regarding the recommended way of electrically connecting an electric choke. I'm surprised he didn't mention it in his reply above. Help yourself to a look!

Already on it. Saw someone mentioned it awhile back, did a search and up it popped. Thanks for the heads up. Looks like a much cleaner and much more ideal way than what I currently have set up.
