Wipers Will Not Stop

My car is a 71 Cutlass Convertible. My wife & I drove it the first 4 days of the Hot Rod Mag Power Tour and just got home. It rained several times and my wipers would only run on low. When I turn them to high they would come up about 2 inches and go back down. They did this incessantly. I thought no big deal I would just use low. When the rain stopped and I turned them off they would not park, they did exactly like they did on high. I stopped the car and turned it off to see if they would reset but the first time I tried that they did not. The second time I tried it they did. It was that way on today too. Any ideas what to check?

Yeah, wiring, switch, and wiper motor. This problem is caused by an open circuit somewhere in the park wiring. Most likely it's the park contacts in the motor, but it could also be an open in the switch or the wiring. The CSM has troubleshooting procedures for exactly this problem.

I had the same problem with my '66 Toro. I did the diagnostics in the CSM but it was a bit confusing. I ended up having the wiper motor rebuilt and afterwards everything was back to normal again.
