wind wing / vent window install
I'm doing a frame off on a 50 olds 2dr sedan and have a problem with the wind wings.
I put in new rubber and had the frames re-chromed. The window is too low in the opening allowing a gap between the rubber and the frame at the top and major rubbing of the frame and rubber on the bottom.
How can I raise the frame in the opening? The glass frame hinge is riveted to the sub frame which is screwed to the door.
How are the spacers and washers etc. stacked with the big spring on the bottom?
Any Thoughts? Thanks.
Bill

I understand what I'm reading. The glass, has it been glued in or was it secured in the vent frame with rubber tape or cork tape? Reason I ask is glued in glass isn't centered in frame which when closed.. Doesn't close tight..rubber tape or cork tape closes tightly...also sometimes before putting glass in you have to tweak the vent frame and dry fit glass so it will close nice and tight.

Thanks for the reply. New glass was made from the old and is exactly the same shape when placed one on top of the other.
I used a rubber type tape to hold the glass in the frame. I then lined the glass so it was even with the ends of the metal frame. Motor oil was used as a lubricant to ease the installation and swell the rubber.
Today I'm going to try to make the glass less tight in the frame hoping I can gain 1/8" at the top to seal the frame to the rubber weatherstripping.
The hinge was removed and re-chromed and re riveted to the frame, and the hinge rivet was replaced.
The only issue is how the spring and washers are stacked as this is the only adjustment I can see to raise the glass/frame in the body frame that screws to the door. Even then any adjustment would be minor as the hinge limits up and down movement.
Thanks for your help.
