Will Bleach White damage the paint?

On a previous post I asked what would clean my white convertible boot cover. Someone recommended that I try Bleche Wite (Bleach White) since the magic erasers and oxy-clean just did not do the job.

Well I tried it out and it worked GREAT! Now, I'm looking at the white convertible top and wondering if it would also do the same job on it also. What's holding me back is wondering if it might damage the paint.

Has anyone tried this on a convertible top before, and if so, how well did it work?

I've used Bleche White on a convertible top. Works good. I clean the top first and then wash the car, that way it washed all the cleaner off. I never noticed any fading of the paint, but it never was on there very long. I would imagine if you left it on the paint it would discolor it eventually.

Wash and rinse the body thoroughly, it will damage the paint if left on there for a period of time. It will also stain aluminum quickly.

Bleach White is an acid based cleaner. I never use it on tires, because it dries out the rubber. In the old days, I used a soft bristle brush and Comet powder to keep my convertible top looking good. If you decide to go the Bleach White route, have a helper with a hose running, so it can be diluted and washed away from the car body.

I used it cautiously on my white top and I put it on a rag to clean only the whites of the letters on the tires.

I had bought some Bleche-Wite to clean some tires, and I wasn't too impressed. I decided to try Bar Keepers Friend since I use that quite a bit for other things, and I was very happy with the results. I thought I found a new "secret" car cleaning product, but right on the can it says, "Cleans white sidewalls". Oh well.

I use 303 Convertible Top Cleaner. I buy the kit that has the cleaner and the protectant. 303 makes great products. I get the kit from Amazon for $27. There is another product called Raggtop that does the same thing and costs about $5.00 more. I have used it and it is good but no better for more money.
