Wide oval red lines

I have a 65 442 and was thinking of putting red line wide ovals on the car. I know wide ovals were not available until 67. Would the wide ovals still be correct for the car?

How can they be correct for a 65 if the tires were not available until 67? Think about it.

What I guess I’m asking is if judged in a show would I be deducted points? They don’t deduct points off cars with radials even though they didn’t come with them.

You ask about points being deducted at a car show, are you asking about a Olds, OCA show? If so, put you car in street stock, class, and they will not deduct, in stock class they may if the judge, knows that year cars. Some times you can get a judge, that may not know, or may let it slip by.

When I was at the Olds Nationals in Reno in 2011, I got docked 2 points a tire in stock class because the tires were (and still are) radials. I also got docked a point because my battery was a GM replacement instead of one of the reproduction-looking originals. Maybe things have changed since then?

Yes, they still deduct points for those infraction at any points or Concours type show worth it's salt. I just plan on taking the hit on the tire and battery thing anymore. The car isn't as competitive as it once was, ether is the car owner.

That being said I still like it that way. Exceptions lead to all kinds of people taking advantage of the class structure to the point there is no class structure and we then call that a show and shine...... Tedd

OCA and AACA DO deduct points for tires that were not factory available on a particular year and model. I don't know where you got that info.
