Wheel Size for a 70 442 W-30

What is the tallest wheel/tire combo you would run on a 70 442? I would like a bigger tire to decrease the RPMs on the road but am worried the taller wheels will look funny. Anybody made this change?

I run 275 60 15s on 15 x 8" rims on my 72 W-30. 28" tall tire. Looks good & has the right stance. Up front is a 225 70 15 on a 15 x 7" rim & is same height.

If you want to run the same profile tire all the way around you have fewer options. I have heard of people running 255 60 15s on all 4 corners (27" tall tires) & I know you certainly can run 225 70 15s on all four but they will look way too skinny out back.

That would be me. That's about the largest you can run on the front without major rubbing (I get minor rubs on a hard bump at full steering lock). You can certainly go wider at the back, but a 255 is about the widest you can put on 15x7 SSII wheels, which is what I have.

Me too, and I get the same rub if I'm locked and going up or down an apron. Next time I'll get a 235/70/15 for the fronts or something like that. But I do like the look.
