Me thinks you need to post up some more info. Such as mileage, more pics, history, more pics, vin, more pics, where you are, more pics. And then maybe some more pics. Then we can appraise it, in a ballpark type of way. With more pics.

No. It's a '73, '74, or '75, as those were the years for that body style. Beginning in '76, Cutlasses had rectangular headlights.

Here's a '72.

My eyes are telling me it's a '73. Looks decent at first glance.

Some info we'd need to help out with a valuation:

What's the letter before the 3 in the middle of the VIN? H,J, K, M, U or V?

Swivel buckets and console? Bench seat? (self edit: I can clearly see that it has swivel buckets...)
Factory tach/gauges?
Original engine and trans? Any paperwork and/or history?
What's the rust situation on the body and underside, including trunk and floor pans?

Good luck with your sale.

Terry

Don't be sorry on my part! I like to goof with people. I'm sorry if I came across as a douche. My friend had one of these back in the day. I like them better now than I did then. We thought of them as smoggers and slow and therefore not cool. I wish I had that car now.

Hey, I'm a victim of what Google images said it was. I can never tell those years apart, anyway. The point is, though, that the OP's car is from the style that came after the '68-'72 models.

Why did you buy it if you need money? And how/why did you buy it if you "don't know what you have?" Do you normally buy cars without knowing what they are?

Something about this doesn't smell right.

The guy I got it from just got out of a divorce. Has kids and needed something bigger. I traded my suburban that seats 8. I figured the car was better on gas for me anyway so I traded. Anything else smell funny you want to know??

ok ill go first

it looks like a nice car.

my limited knowledge suggests its a 442.
it has a 350 engine and its an automatic

I would guess without seeing it the value in todays market is 3-6k obviously at 6k it will be a harder sell and it would need to be in better to excelleent condiiton rust wise and interior wise.

generally big blocks are the more desirable variant but yours does present well from the limited pics we've seen.

for reference here in new england

there is a BB 73-75 for sale on the local cl looks in nice shape 6xxx hasnt moved all summer

a 74? HO BB w original BB as well needs restore but a good driver 4500 hasnt moved in mmm maybe 2 years ?

Yes 350 not a BB both inside and out are a little rough around the edges but not the worst condition. Body and frame are both solid. Runs great... Thanks for the input man. Hope I can get something outta it

How easy would it be to tell the year from the title when you bought the car?

There are a lot of knowledgeable people here and a lot of potential buyers. In order to tap into that potential you'll have to invest a little more time in your description and pictures. Also, any special terms of sale would be helpful.

We all wanna see more pics. I'd suggest side view, dash view, interior view (including driver's seat), engine view. If there's obvious rust, you should show it. If you can get a well-lit under view, that would be awesome, but it's not usually very practical...

Nice car. Only thing is that none of the 72 442's ever came from the factory with a rear deck wing. Added by a PO, but still looks really nice.

That assumes that the car was previously registered with the correct year of manufacture.

Ding ding ding. Absolutely right Chris. VIN's don't lie. The 6th placeholder from the left is the model year (73)

This also appears to be the base Cutlass (as noted by the letter F) that has been dressed up to look like an HO. IIRC only the Cutlass S got the HO badging, special roof treatment and automatic upgrade to 455. So this would be a clone. Looks nice, but I agree with the others it's not as highly valued as a real HO would be.

For those who want to know how to spot the difference between 71 and 72 from head on the indicators of 71 are:
1. Stone shield rocket on 72 is solid with no paint showing through
2. headlamp bezels on 72 have blacked out dishes.
3. 442 grills are the reverse color code of 72
4. 442 numbers on grill are black (not red/orange)
5. Interior rear view mirror has silver backing instead of black.
6. Perimeter grill trim has raised surface in the middle. 72 has raised surface on exterior of trim

There were so few real 1972 442 W30 cars made that finding one is rare from the word 'go'.
