What is it worth?
What is it worth?
I did not see a forum here that addresses this subject (some forums have them) so I hope I am posting in the appropriate place.
I know this is primarily a classic Olds sit and this may not be the place to find a buyer as it is unlikely that anyone is going to travel any great distance for a car like this. If anyone has any other site suggestions for a car like this I would appreciate a referal.
We have inherited a 1987 Cutlass Supreme 2 door that my mother-in-law bought new and upon her passing it went to here son and now to my wife upon her brothers passing, so it is a one family car.
The car was bought new in Phoenix, AZ. and has never been out of the state so of course it is rust free. It is silver in color with a gray cloth interior. Basic Cutlass Supreme, bench seat, 305-4V, A/C, P.S., P.B., no power windows. The silver paint is faded (may buff up) dent free, interior is nice with no rips or tears. It has good tires and the original wire wheel covers. The car has 76K acual miles. The A/C barely blows cold and needs to be recharged. I plan to replace the carb that I posted about in the Newbie forum.
Opinions on the value of this car?
Sorry, no pictures as my new computer is not compatable with my camera.
Happy to talk on the phone with anyone interested for specific questions and honest answers.

Is the car still in Phoenix? Location helps with the sale.
Also, just some honest advice, as I've advertised & sold many cars over the years. Not many people will even be interested in it at all unless there's at least one picture of it to see overall condition, etc.
If you have a digital cam, find a computer that it will work with I've seen very few I couldn't make work on ANY computer. You just have to find the right software.
I can even point you in the right direction if I know your operating system, and make/model of the camera.

Sounds like a few cars I have seen around here for sell for over a year on and off asking 4-5k not sold and never coming down on the price.
Honestly unless it a Hurst or something special G-body cars will not bring much. $1500-2000.00 and it might sell

There were both Cutlass Supreme and Cutlass Supreme Broughams in 1987.
According to the June 2011 edition of the Old Cars Price Guide, the value of an '87 Supreme in #4 condition (runs and drives but needs full restoration) is just under $1,600. In #3 condition ("car show" condition but not showroom condition), the value is about $3,500.
For the Supreme Brougham, the values are just slightly higher at $1,600 and $3,600. Now there's a large gap between those two condition levels as any partial restoration will bring it above a #4. It sounds like your car is mostly in good condition but does have a few issues (faded paint, non-working A/C) that don't bring it quite to #3 condition. So very roughly maybe $2,500 to $3,000 as a value if you're looking to put a price on it to try to sell it. Maybe set $3,000 as the asking price and be willing to let it go for something in the low $2,000s?
