What are these used for?

I saw these listed on ebay and I dunno what they do or how they work, and if they're supposed to be on my '72 Supreme.

They were sold as an accessory item to help prevent young kids from lifting the door lock from the inside.

I saw some on bigger Olds vehicles back in the day (1960s/70s), never saw any on A-Bodies. To this day I recall thinking about them. They would be ill-placed on my 1967 4-4-2 back then (1969-1972) since you could often find me w/ a clothes hangar in my hand fishing for the lock staring at my keys in the ignition.
