What is a 2 dr. 67 Delta 88 Custom worth?
A buddy of mine just got this car and I am wondering what is the value of these cars? 425 Ultra High Compression 4 bbl and T400 showing like 45K miles, dual exhaust, buckets and console, white w/white int. complete car w/some rust but solid and complete car considering its age. I see prices all over so I am just trying to give him a ballpark value on the car, any input is appreciated, thanks!
Hey guy.graziano: Your Delta 88 was very, very nice. I would have liked to have seen our two cars parked side by side to check-out the differences.
My car is a '67 Delta 88 Custom Holdiay Coupe. It's a California car (built and sold there). I'm the 3rd owner.
I purchased my rust-free Delta 88 Custom for $2,500.00 back in January 2010. I've spent a little over 5 times that amount of money since!
My question to you is... Does your friend's car look better or worse than your old 88? I bet that you are going to say, his car doesn't look as good as your car did! Your friend's car could be worth awywhere between $5,000 & 12,500.00.
There is a guy in Woodslee, ON with a '67 Delta 88 4 dr Sedan for sale that looks excellent. I saw his car at the Olds Home Coming Show in Lansing, MI June 2011. I want his bumpers!

Jaunty75 usually jumps in here and posts a book value on vehicles based on previous sales. Trouble is, not many of these cars change hands in a given year.
Obviously, the final sale price depends on the buyer!

You rang?
The Old Cars Price Guide lists values for a '67 Delta 88 Custom 2-door in #4 condition (runs and drives but needs complete restoration) at about $3400. In #3 condition ("car show" condition but not "showroom" condition), the value given is about $7500.
Depending on the particulars of the car in question, it's likely between these values.
And, no, not a lot of these change hands each year, but that's true for many cars. If one looks at the values in these guides for any particular car over several years, they don't change much. It's not, after all, like something is going to happen to suddenly make a car drop or jump in value. Values may change over time as the cars get generally older and if, for some reason, there is a change in how they're perceived. But these are generally slow trends that take years to develop.

Delta Custom
'67 Delta Custom was really the Starfire for '67. Starfire engine I believe was standard equipment but at the least it was an option. Old Car Price Guides are way off in todays economy. They are interested in selling price guides and misleading sellers with inflated prices. A car of that ilk in very good condition will garner a respectable price. But the economy is what determines that as does the popularity of the car in question. BTW, very neat cars those 1967/68 Delta Customs. However, aside from the few who actually know about them, most haven't a clue they even exsist.
They're not any more or less valid than anyone else's opinion. And remember, half the people who buy them are BUYERS, not sellers, and they want to see low prices, not high. The publishers of those guides have as much incentive to lean one way on their estimates as they do the other, which is probably why they don't lean either way.

I base my ideas on whats selling and whats not. Many buyers go by these prices in hopes that they will get at least close to what these guides indicate based on their own personal opinion if they own a #3 or #4 or whatever. Watching ebay sales, I see alot of cars not moving period. Before the economic fall, they were moving, not now! Most sellers even indicate the "book value" in their auctions and drop their starting prices and still, not always, but mostly, the car does not sell. Alot of low bids is what I am seeing. That is on some otherwise, very nice cars. Just stating my opinion.
