What is this?!?!

A while back, I replaced my valve cover gaskets. In the process I took a black square thing off with a hose connected to it. It's on the passenger side. And now my check engine light is on. I'm guessing this is why. 1985 delta 88. 307

No. I tried to jump it with a paper clip but it doesn't flash like it's supposed to. It stays solid
