This weekends Mecum's Oldsmobiles
This weekend is the Mecum car auction in Kansas City. I went ahead and made a list of the 11 Oldsmobile cars that will be selling. Looks pretty good. Hopefully I'll be able to make it there and take some pictures of the cars.

I don't know if anyone else is watching it on TV but I'm pretty upset. They had commercial breaks not only on the 442, but also the convertible tonight. Hopefully they show at least the remaining 3 for the night.

Well, I checked the listing and updated the page with the price that the sold at at least....

Anyway, since I'm in the KC area, I'm probably going to drive down there in a bit and see if I can check out the cars myself and commercial free :-)

I saw that, too. Pissed the hell out of me. If they're not going to show a car as it crosses the block because they're at commercial or something, fine. At least, when you come back from commercial, mention the cars/lot numbers that went by while you were away and what was the outcome.

A buddy of mine went to the auction with a car to sell, he said that it cost more to get a televised spot. So he went with a commercial spot. He got enough out of his car to sell it. Now it's time to get something else and start over!

What's the advantage of this to the seller? Most bidders are there in the audience, and the internet bidders would likely be watching the live feed on the Mecum website, rather than the TV broadcast, which covers only part of the day's activity, anyway, or they'd be in constant phone contact with someone there on site.
In other words, no one seriously interested in bidding on a car is going to be concerned with whether or not that particular car's time on the block is televised or not. So what does the seller gain by paying the extra fee?

Prices just aren't there for Oldsmobiles compared to Chevelles, Buicks, and GTO's.
I've seen Chevelle SS clones sell for the same prices as those legit 442's.
Is this your forum ???

Yes it is. When I bought my first Cutlass in July, I got obsessed. Being more of a web guy then a mechanic, I started building a site with my progress on my car. It grew to have more tutorials, classifies, videos, forum and more. Just a little project.
