Water in convertible trunk

I did a search but I must be searching incorrectly as I couldn't find this... I have a 1970 Cutlass Convertible, well I have had it 10 days, and when I washed it water got into the trunk clearly from the seal behind the convertible and not the trunk seals. Any recommendations on how to solve this?

have a conv. top guy loo at it. There is suppused to be a plastic rain gutter in there that channels the water off to the side and disposes of it. Maybe that part is missing or broken. IT can probably be welded [yes plastic welds] or fixed with epoxy, silicone, or the like. JB Weld and window screen... get ingenious.

Just curious when you say wash your car you mean by hand don't you, not through the automatic car wash. They all leak if subjected to ultra high water pressure....Tedd

A longtime Olds guy I know once said "it ain't a real convertible if it don't leak!"

But yes, check the plastic gutter and make sureit channels water around to the wheel wells.

Hey, at least you got a real gutter. The 71-76 fullsize convertibles have a gutter made of top material, and if it gets a hole in it or even gets scrunched up, you got a trunk full of water. And you rarely see a trim shop replace or even check that gutter when they do a top job on one of these cars, even when you specifically tell them to.
