The accuracy of this car is amazing. A really great presentation of a genuine W-Machine. Has anyone here seen this in person? Super example of how you could option a real sleeper back in '69. https://inventory.motorcargroup.com/...mobile-f85-w31
it has been at MCACN at least once
& not sure I'd call a "RALLY GREEN" Oldsmobile a "sleeper" this car stands out like a sore thumb! its day-two mag wheels probably didn't help either
Joe, I hear you on that hood and have a tough time getting by it. If the original owner ordered it that way, special color, and accessories, an "in the know" customer would have made sure papers would stay with the car. Things do happen though.
Just so I know, since 69 is not a year I know too well, the real w-31 hood has two separate humps, not one big one across the whole thing, correct?
Correct. For normal 3277 body, the hood shown is the stock hood. With W31 option, the double hump hood was called for on 3277. I absolutely love the idea of the minimized F-85 available with W-31 back then.
It's a little overdone IMO, with tags and stickers hanging off it everywhere. Also, it shows a 442 tire pressure decal on the door. They did have F-85 ones. WTF?
I will say the answer to using this as a "standard"? ....is NO. Without paperwork to support the claims, who really knows for sure? Again, one of those super nice looking cars, even as it could be exactly what it is depicted to be, that unfortunately falls a little short of perfection.

I don't know how one would even order the "stock" hood with the W31 package. There is no RPO code for the hood, or a "hood delete" package. As noted above, every scrap of factory documentation clearly shows that the "double hump" hood was used on the 3277 cars when W31 was ordered. That was done because RPO W31 also included the W42 wide hood paint stripes. Now, there WERE RPO codes for custom paint, and arguably one could even have used those codes to get the stripes deleted, but I'm waiting for someone to show me how this car would have been built with that hood.
Of course, the cowl tag only says "- -" for the paint code, so there is no way to prove the car was delivered in non-Oldsmobile green either. Since this car has been through a compete resto and repaint, what documentation exists of the original color?
Zero information! I remember awhile back there was a special order 70 with mopar plum crazy....It had the - - but no proof. You could order colors for an up cost, but without doc's? And another brand at that.
since the unrestored '70 W30 convertible still had original paint on much of cowl, floors, header and other areas of the car, it's hard to dispute what color the car was originally
I don't know if there is similar evidence on this F85 - but I could find out, if I was so inclined
