VR1 20w50

Amazon has Valvoline VR1 20w50 listed for $23.99/case of 6. I just bought 2. Kinda pisses you off when 10w30 is sold for $56.37 for 6.

Don't make much sense does it. I still have about 12 quarts left from the 54. I think I can use it in the 75 Hurst okay since it gets pretty warm in Texas.

Yeah not only that, but I checked my order and it shows that as the per bottle price. Bait and switch!

I contacted Amazon and cancelled the order. I can buy a 5 quart jug from the local auto parts store for $33, and know for certain that I'm getting more than 32 ounces for that amount of money!

Guys - A great alternative to VR1 20w50 is Mobil 1's 15w50 Full Synthetic. It has 1300 ppm Zinc and 1200 ppm Phosphorus. The Mobil 1 Spec Guide says it is specifically designed for flat tappet, high temp / high stress, and race applications. The 400ci in my '67 loves it. You can order a 5 quart jug from Walmart anytime for $28.

Edit - Attaching the Mobil 1 Spec Guide, 15w50 is at the bottom of the 3rd page.

Ive got a case of 20w50, but I feel like that's way too thick for a fresh engine build. I'm currently running 15w40 and I'm at like 70psi

I run the 10w 30 in my fresh built 455 it always runs around 180 degrees in the summer and about 60pounds of oil pressure while cruising hot .I use the 20 /50 in my older well broke in 455.
