VR1 10w40

Is VR1 available in a 10w40 ? I only see semi synthetic in that weight . The 20w50 is too thick imo.

I use 20/50 in my 455’s in moderate climate - never freezes here near SF, mostly 50’s - 80’s, occasionally 90+ but not for long and not too often,

Am I doing the wrong thing?

my line of thinking is these motors and tolerances were designed for a 10w30 or 10 w40 . Now I have run the 20w 50 in a couple instances with no issues . I’m running 10w30 in my mild built 455 but it seems awful thin in a hot motor .

No VR1 is not available in 10w40. 10w30 or 20w50 are the only 2 flavors in a conventional multi viscosity oil. It's also available in straight 30,40,50,and 60.

I run VR1 10W30 in several cars in Indiana, and my old man has run Valvoline Racing Oil, then VR1, 20W50 in his old Corvette in Florida for years. He is getting tired, and tired of driving it, I think, at 77, so I'll have to move it up here soon. May change oil viscosity, but that is the least of my worries.
