VIN Derivative Stamping Location 1972 Automatic

Does anyone have a simple drawing to show the location of the VIN stamping for a 1972 Cutlass equipped with an OG automatic transmission? I searched our site and found drawings for 4 speeds but not automatics. I already sent the seller a photograph of a VIN derivative, but he can't find the location on his car despite multiple telephone conversations. Thanks.

Visualizing the VIN derivative on the transmission is difficult - so, if the person is struggling to find it, it is difficult to see (unless the transmission is out of the car which I don't believe to be the case).

Here are a couple pictures of my VIN derivative stamped on my TH350 transmission. I apologize for them being out of focus. These were taken w/ me on my back, under the transmission. I had to use a mirror to first locate the VIN derivative because it is tucked up above the lip of the transmission and can't be visualized by just looking at it from the side (unless your head is the size of an eggshell). Then, I had to take the pictures (best I could) based upon the location I visualized w/ the mirror. At any rate, it isn't straight forward you have to be persistent in finding it.

The other picture is just another picture of the engine VIN derivative stamp location (LH side front of engine) of Joe's post.

In case you couldn't make out the VIN derivative # in my above pictures. (PowerPoint isn't playing well w/ me tonight for some reason)

Thank you! They should be able to locate the derivative now. Funny story: they told me that they searched all day and concluded that the transmission must not be stamped..lol. He may be honest!

Thanks again!
