Vanity Plates

Vanity Plates
I am thinking of getting Vanity Plates for my 70 SX. Let me know what you think of these suggestions:
BESTSX – Best SX (am I bragging?)
AWSSX – Awesome SX ( am I bragging again?)
SXFRVR – SX For Ever ( OK, I am bragging)
SXFEVR – SX Fever ( I have that)
GOTSX – Got SX ( I have that too)
1970SX – 1970 SX (too boring?)
YNOTSX – Why not SX ( too needy?)
OLDSSX – Olds SX (accurate, but am I appealing to the wrong audience?)
Thanks, Peter

LOL Peter.
You should post this with an on line poll and also have an 'other' option.
Sorry I can't vote for any of those. I'd be more inclined to suggest CLSACT (Class Act). After all, the CS and CS/SX are class acts and also have to reflect the classiness of their driver....
BTW, how did you get color font on your post?

Yes, and the car is the only SX I have![Smile](https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I like SX4EVR and CLASSX. (Limited to 6 characters I believe)
Al - the font was a cut and paste from my word processor. How does the poll function work?
Cheers, Peter

Peter, I believe you have to do that when the thread is created.
After you've titled the thread and added the general message, there are 4 boxes below with options, before you hit 'submit new thread' as seen on this screenshot. I've used it before and it's really easy, plus fun. Once you get into the poll options you list your choices and also have to specify an ending date. The poll results will be listed for you (at the top of the thread header) each time you visit it.
Looks like this:

Thanks Allan - I will do that next time! I do not want to loose the good feedback so far.
RARESX is good too.
If the observer knows Olds, he will smile.
If the observer's mind goes to the gutter and he has a sense of humour, he will smile.
If the observer does not have a sense of humour and has gone to the gutter, he probably has experience with being there.
Bringing a smile for two out of three is good.
Cheers, Peter

When I was (much) younger my buddies and I were walking to an afternoon movie past the Chev Olds Dealer on Whyte Ave and there was a car in the drive waiting for us to go past so he could enter traffic. His front plate read "1066". Anyone??
Well being the ever brilliant Grade 12 student I was at the time, I boldly walked up to the side of his car (window was open) and said, "Mr. Hastings I presume?". He looked startled for a second then laughed. What he said next was "Yes, and you're the first one who's ever made that connection".
Reference: 1066 - Battle of HASTINGS
Personalizing plates is, well ....personal.
This is a true story. I came home from work back in 92 and parked the car. Right about then Blonde jokes were all the rage. You know where this is going, don't you. My wife is blonde and she's smart, sweet and loving. But gullible.
Me: *mmwah!* (kiss) Hi Sweetheart!
Her: *mmwhah!* (you know). Hiiiiiiiiiii Sweeeetttieeeee!!
Me: Did you hear about the Blonde who had her name legally changed to LRX912?
Her: Puzzled look, then "Hey, Isn't that my car plate?"
Me: See, not all Blondes are dumb! (ducking)

Great story about 1066 Allan.
I told your joke to my wife - she did not get it (and I did substitute our license number).
My wife just told me the vanity plate is going to be "NOSX"![Smile](https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

I think that's the automatic thing that happens after kids. Every woman I had the nerve to broach the subject re: sex/kids? NO WAY I'M GOING THROUGH THAT HELL AGAIN!!! (until it turns out they are going to go through hell again) But we all know how much fun it is to place the order....
Umm, just talking with friends/colleagues - I'm not a philanderer.

To me, it all depends on your philosophy concerning "vanity" plates.
Personally, I don't think "vanity" plates have to be about vanity.
They can be about information.
The first thing that occurred to me was that when someone sees my car,
the first thing they think is "What is that?" and/or "What year is that?"
since the average person doesn't know our cars as well as we do.
I have a couple of vanity plates-"67OLDS" and "OLD442".
When I had "W" cars, I had plates that read "69W30" and "69W31".
That's why I don't find "1970SX" to be boring. Maybe "70CTLSSX"
Using "MY" on a vanity plate is a waste of characters and kinda dumb.
It's fair to assume it's yours since you're driving it.
Also, don't make the message so vague that someone has to spend the rest of the afternoon
trying to "decode" your plate.

KLRUNR - Cool Runner
DRSXCS - spin on Dr. Olds (Dr. SX Cutlass Supreme)
DRMCAR - Dream Car
PCARD - The ultimate personalized plate. No one will know if it's you or the Captain of the Enterprise. Watch out for autograph hounds.

Allan,
I am going to go for TPLSSX (credit goes to you), but just found out that I have to keep my current plates until 2014.
I want to thank everyone for their suggestions - it was fun!

I have this on my Supreme and I still get asked "What year is your Chevy?" so what you put is up to you. Just a little side note is here in Jersey you have to submit 3 or 4 different ones and if they are taken then you have to start over and I'm not sure about other states.
Just my 2 cents.
