Hi all - I use Valvoline VR1 in my 455 with flat tappet cam and see that NAPA has it on sale this month for $5.99 a quart; even 10w-30. Just wanted to pass along as I know others like to use it and it's normally $11.99. Have only used it for about a year but no issues so far!

 

Thanks for the heads up. I run it it two of my cars and a truck. I'm heading to Napa today.

Picked up a case of 10w30 this morning, I forgot to ask about the 5qt jug, dang it. It doesn't show up on their website?

 

Was all set to buy some, then read it's not recommended for cars with catalytic converters. All mine are of the smog era. Oh well, thanks anyway for the lead. .

Good post, thanks. I just had my 69 Toronado engine rebuilt. Is the VR1 a good pick for it? I'm in San Diego, so I've been using 10W-30 conventional.
Never mind - I see now it's conventional, thanks. I had in my head that VR1 was always synthetic. Thanks for the sale tip.
