Valve lash / alternator bracket ?

So the re-built engine has a couple miles on it, 455. 1.6 roller rockers and hydraulic cam The valves were set on the loose side. After 50 miles i started to hear a clacking. So adjusted the valves. ( stock valve covers...) (was a very loose valve/ checked lifters)
Before the car would start better than a new truck.
Now it cranks/ cranks/cranks nothing.. like its out of gas...since i adjusted the valves.
I checked lash 3 times.

Next ? trying to get the brackets to align for the alternator..geesh..i must be a dumby, ive done it before with much success..but seems with all the bolts loose im off 1/2inch. I dont want to put too much pressure on the original aluminum intake (alluminum). Witch the intake bolt seems to be the one that needs to be tightened..Thank you
