valve covers
valve covers
These came on my car but I don't see any manufacturer ID on them. I like the no logo look but does anyone know what brand they are? I pulled them to work on a top end tick. Notice the small wear marks on the breather hole, could be at least part of my problem. Plan to replace all the rockers/perches and check all the pushrods, you know, might as well.....
I've got a set that I believe may have been Hardin Marine covers. Someone ground off the name and painted them with black wrinkle paint. They came out looking nice. I'm thinking someone may have ground off the brand on yours (Edelbrock?) and polished where it had been.

Should have done this first. Googled the part number on the inside which indicates Holley, but all the Holley's I have seen have the embossed name. Maybe they just used a sticker at some time.
Those are the old M/Ts that someone machined away the "M/T". I liked the look of them but I hated that they still used the very early Toro style offset holes which made it hard to hook up the breather parts if you wanted to run a stock air cleaner
They could be Holley also.

All of this style of valve covers were cast by Offenhauser for whoever wanted their logo on them. Some were Edelbrock, some Hardin Marine, Holly, etc... I had a set one time that actually had Offenhauser logo on them.
I like them with no logos and will clean them up a little but not full polish before re-installing. Probably too flashy for me, but thought about painting the recesses with engine block gold.
Need to figure out my ticking issue this weekend first.
Replaced all the rockers/perches and 95% sure the tick is gone. Getting dark and starting to drizzle when I finished yesterday so did not road test it yet. One rocker on the driver side had a bit of play. One bolt on the passenger side was loose, turns out it was a regular bolt with a washer that had cracked.
I think the no-name valve covers with the gold accents turned out good since my engine bay is not stock original anyway.
