Valve Covers

Valve Covers
Hello Gents.
The 371's had to have another rebuild. Done correctly this time and still ongoing. List of horrors we found will be posted later.
In the meantime, does anyone know if the earlier 49-50 valve covers fit the 57 371. I like the styling of the earlier covers and think the ignition lead looks far tidier.
Many thanks.

Dave:
I don't know but I would check and see of the valve cover gaskets are the same. If they are the only other thing you need to check is the spacing of the holddown bolts. I don't think the height would be an issue.

Gaskets and bolt spacing would be the same but the 371 has a higher lift on the rockers, you may have to double gasket the covers to overcome this difference, I've seen this done in the past but never done it myself....Tedd

Many thanks Gents.
Fortunately the 57 is with some very good hot rod fabricators (hence the superior engine rebuild this time). They like a challenge and I'll mention this one near to when the 371's just about done. I'll then scarper quick like from their repair shop.
